This is hilarious, except that every asshole that grew up within the same ten years of me is going to be twittering and blogging about this (present company included, but I’m trying to make a point. During a History of Primetime TV class (yes, this was in college; yes, this was my major), my professor (the great Robert Thompson, look him up) showed a montage of clips. It included the scene from Saved by the Bell where Jessie Spano broke down from caffeine pills while singing, “I’m So Excited.” When she delivered her signature line of, “I’m so scared,” the whole class delivered it with her. Thompson was amazed; I was disgusted. For some reason, I hate this type of faux-irony. Everyone else laughed.
