Sotomayor's Virtual Cast
I’m all for Obama’s choice of Sonia Sotamayor for the Supreme Court, but I’m trying to figure out the benefit of having a virtual cast for her.
Obama’s team used the internet in new, innovative ways, and it made a big difference, financially and organizationally. They got it more than anyone else has in politics thus far, at least on a national scale (Howard Dean’s campaign is the grandfather of this, but four years later, Obama took it to the next level with all the web’s new capabilities).
But sometimes I think they’re throwing whatever they can against the wall, and seeing what sticks. That’s often a good approach, but, like any projectile against the wall, can get a bit sloppy.
The best I can think of is they’re trying to make her a bit of a sympathetic figure, soften her image, after those stupid “racist” attacks from the GOP.
